IMPORTANT RESIDENT INFORMATION

The Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority (PRHA) was selected by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to submit a Moving to Work application and plan.

Created by Congress in 1996, Moving to Work is a Demonstration Program that allows Housing Authorities to design and test innovative, locally-designed strategies for providing low-income families with affordable housing and new paths to economic independence.
PRHA is soliciting public input on the Moving to Work Plan.

A Public Hearing will be held to solicit public input. To assure safety during the continued COVID pandemic, the public hearing will be held virtually.

Written comments will be accepted through December 2, 2020, and can be mailed to the central office above or sent via e-mail to MTW@prha.org

Any person requiring assistance to participate, such as large print, taped materials, interpreters for sign language or limited English proficiency should make a request to PRHA at least ten working days prior to the public hearing in order to allow time to make

Congress established three statutory goals for MTW:

  1. Reduce costs and achieve greater cost-effectiveness of federal expenditures.

  2. Give incentives to families to obtain employment and become economically self-sufficient.

  3. Expand Housing Choice for low-income families.
