IMPORTANT RESIDENT INFORMATION
The Portsmouth Redevelopment and Housing Authority (PRHA) was selected by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to submit a Moving to Work application and plan.
Created by Congress in 1996, Moving to Work is a Demonstration Program that allows Housing Authorities to design and test innovative, locally-designed strategies for providing low-income families with affordable housing and new paths to economic independence.
PRHA is soliciting public input on the Moving to Work Plan.

Congress established three statutory goals for MTW:
Reduce costs and achieve greater cost-effectiveness of federal expenditures.
Give incentives to families to obtain employment and become economically self-sufficient.
Expand Housing Choice for low-income families.
